Your inland grain and bulk commodity transportation needs are a core business for us. Shaver’s barges have a combined capacity of almost 55,000 tons. Shaver’s tugs are capable of moving any freight by barge on the Columbia-Snake river system. Most of our barges are specially designed to transport grain and bulk commodities such as wheat, barley, soybeans, corn, canola and rapeseed.  

Our grain and bulk barges include four 298-foot long self-unloading barges. At 4,000 tons each, these “Magnums” have the greatest capacity in the region. With highly-automated cargo systems and weight-saving features, we are capable of discharging an entire barge in under 5 hours.

We are constantly upgrading our fleet. Recently we added two newly designed barges that are 23 feet shorter than our Magnums, yet capable of hauling nearly as much cargo.

To move your cargo efficiently and safely we have a fleet of high-quality specialized push-knee tugs, including the 3,600 horsepower tractor tug MV DESCHUTES, and her sister tug MV WILLAMETTE. We have also repowered the MV CASCADES and MV CLEARWATER, making our push-knee tugs some of the cleanest, most reliable and fuel-efficient tugs in the industry.
